What are Botox, Dysport and Xeomin?

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are a neuromodulators that are injected into facial muscles to relax or weaken the muscles that form wrinkles.

These injections eliminate forehead, eye, and lip lines. Botox Dysport and Xeomin injections also prevent underarm sweating, migraine headaches, and TMJ pain.

What should I expect?

Botox and Xeomin improve your skin’s appearance within days of the injection. Wrinkles are eliminated resulting in a more youthful look. After the treatment, you’ll still be able to frown and smile as you did before. These facial expressions can still be made, but with minimized wrinkles. Results are normally seen within 5 to 7 days.

Before the injection, you will be asked to contract the facial muscles (raising your eyebrows, frowning, squinting) that affect the areas to be treated. This will help determine the best location for the injections.

Safety and side effects

Botox and Xeomin are proven to be safe and effective. Possible side effects include dry mouth, tiredness, headache, neck pain or eye problems. Allergic reactions may include itching, rash or redness, wheezing, or dizziness.

Are the injections painful?

These medications are injected into the muscle with a tiny needle with minimal discomfort.

How long do Botox and Xeomin last?

Results generally last 3 to 4 months and require occasional touch ups. There is no recovery period after a Botox or Xeomin injection. You should not massage the injection areas for a day or two to avoid moving the medication to adjacent muscles.
