Dr. Berger‘s mission is to ensure the safety of all patient treatments. He is board certified in Preventive Medicine and has served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the CDC. Dr. Berger has over 40 years of experience in surgery and the application of CO2 lasers and more than a decade providing cosmetic injectable services. The standards, policies, and procedures at Medical Day Spa reflect his clinical and public health experience and his commitment to safe, effective aesthetic treatments.

Dr. Otter is passionate about wellness and offering evidence-based methods that help patients live healthier lives. With her background in emergency medicine, Dr. Otter knows firsthand how unhealthy habits and genetic backgrounds can lead to chronic illness. Dr. Otter is board-certified in Obesity Medicine and leads our injectable weight loss and functional medicine programs. She enjoys working closely with patients to integrate the nutrition, lifestyle, behavioral, and medical interventions that help them take charge of their health.

Julia founded Medical Day Spa with Dr. Berger and the pair have worked together since 1995. With over 40 years of experience as a clinical nurse and administrator, her mission is to ensure exceptional clinical results and the highest performance standards for all staff. Julia has been an aesthetic injector since 2011, is a certified Injector through Allergan Medical Institute, has extensive training through Galderma, Allergan, Palette Resources, and Aesthetic Next, and has received hundreds of hours in private training by leading aesthetic industry experts. Julia is a ZO Skin Health certified expert whose passion and goal is to help patients achieve healthy skin that enhances a patient’s natural beauty long-term.

Rachael is a seasoned Physician Associate who has developed her expertise as an aesthetic injector through numerous private and industry trainings. In addition to cosmetic injectables like Botox, dermal fillers, Sculptra, Kybella, and PRP, Rachael is experienced in using a variety of lasers for treating the face and body, and enjoys using complementary medical grade skincare and laser treatments to maximize patient outcomes. She has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science, which she applies as a leader in our medical weight loss and wellness program. Rachael’s personal and professional goal is helping patients feel beautiful and confident in their own skin, so they can project that feeling in their interactions with others.

RACHAEL TAYLOR, PA-C

Stephanie is a Laser Nurse Specialist, certified by the National Laser Institute in 2012. Stephanie has a passion for helping patients achieve optimal skin health through a combination of in-office laser treatments and at-home skincare. She has been trained by the top experts in the field of lasers, including Cartessa and Sciton, as well as private one-on-one trainings to further hone her skills in CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing, laser skin tightening, IPL and BBL, skin rejuvenation, and laser hair reduction. Stephanie loves combining treatments like RF microneedling and Tetra Cool Peel for maximum results. She has worked with Dr. Berger since 1998.

STEPHANIE DUNCAN, RN, MSN

Hillary has been a Nurse Injector since 2017 and is a certified injector through Allergan Medical Institute. She is skilled in Botox, Dysport, dermal fillers, Kybella, Sculptra, and PRP injections, and is certified in RF Microneedling, BBL, and Tetra Cool Peel. Hillary traveled to California in 2020 to become master trained by Dr. Zein Obagi in ZO Skin Health protocols, and uses this expertise to help her patients achieve beautiful, healthy skin. Hillary is passionate about dermatology and aesthetics and is constantly expanding her knowledge in and outside the clinic. Her mission is always patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction. Hillary has extensive experience providing training for new injectors.

HILLARY CASSELLI, RN, BSN

Aesthetic Nurse

Jennifer is certified by Aesthetic Advancements in cosmetic injections with neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport). She also performs laser hair reduction and ThermoLo radiofrequency treatments and has worked with Dr. Berger for decades as a recovery room and aesthetic nurse. Prior to moving into the aesthetic field, Jennifer worked in surgery as a circulating and PACU nurse on plastic, orthopedic, and reproductive surgery cases. She is a perfectionist who is detail-oriented and committed to excellence.

JENNIFER BALLENTINE, RN, BSN

Aesthetic Nurse

Christine spent 5 years as a Plastic Surgery/Aesthetic Nurse before joining the Medical Day Spa team. She has also worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Adult Trauma, and Trauma/Burn ICU Nurse. Christine is certified in the use of the Motus AX alexandrite laser and performs laser hair reduction.

CHRISTINE HEARN, RN, MSN

Laser Nurse Specialist

Catie Jo has been a practicing aesthetician since 2017 and is a certified ZO Skin Health Expert who traveled to California for master instruction from Dr. Zein Obagi. She loves the results patients can achieve with a combination of in office treatments and the right ZO Skin Health protocols and is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy skin. She performs HydraFacial, ZO facials, Ageless facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and Skin Pen microneedling procedures.

CATIE JO CASHWELL

Medical Aesthetician

Becky has been a Licensed Aesthetician for over 25 years and has worked with Dr. Berger since 2012. Becky performs facials, microdermabrasion, epidermal leveling (dermaplaning), HydraFacial's, chemical peels, waxing, and lash and brow tinting. Becky is particularly attentive to helping patients with sun-damaged skin.

Maria has a background in finance and business development. She is responsible for budgeting, revenue management, human resources, and operational efficiency, as well as overseeing our day-to-day performance and activities.

MARIA HERNANDEZ

Director of Operations

Nancy has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 20 years. She prepares patients for treatments, performs phlebotomy for lab testing and PRP, and administers injections. Nancy applies her clinical experience to ensure all patients in the practice are educated on pre- and post-treatment care and have updated medical clearances. As a liaison between the administrative and treatment teams, Nancy helps set the standard for excellent customer service and safe, effective aesthetic treatments.

NANCY COLLINS, LPN

Treatment Team Liaison

Abby has over 18 years of experience in holistic healthcare, working in New Orleans, Austin, and Chapel Hill. She studied at Purdue University and Columbia College of the Arts, then founded Carrboro Community Bodywork in 2016. Her goal is to provide each patient with a warm welcome and high standard of care through provider assistance, patient education, patient care, and efficiency.

Patient Relationship Coordinator

Matt has worked with Dr. Berger since 2004 as a surgical technician and medical assistant. He prepares treatment rooms for procedures and his goal is ensuring patient comfort during treatments. Matt is also a certified Spanish translator, helping communicate with Spanish-speaking patients. Matt also owns a transportation company and provides transportation for patients on request.

Maria has worked with Dr. Berger for over 20 years, keeping the facility meticulous. She cleans and disinfects treatment rooms, ensures that halls and floors are free of hazards, removes waste materials promptly from work areas, and ensures adequate inventory of clean laundry.
