What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Both Botox and Dysport contain different formulations of the active ingredient botulinum toxin A. Dysport has an extra protein that is dissolved upon reconstitution. People who have a true cow’s milk allergy should not use Dysport. At our practice, we typically reconstitute the Botox and Dysport to have the same strength. Dysport does have a faster onset (2-5 days) than Botox (5-10 days), although both take full effect at 14 days. Both are approved to last for 3-4 months with appropriate dosage. Dysport has a 3:1 ratio to Botox, so 10 units of Botox equals 30 units of Dysport. Some people respond better to one product over the other.

LASER TREATMENTS
How many laser hair reduction or laser tattoo treatments will I need?
For both laser hair reduction and laser tattoo removal, the number of treatments varies greatly between patients. The effect of laser hair reduction is influenced by treatment area, thickness/fullness of the hair, gender, ethnicity, or hormones. Tattoo removal is influenced by the age, color, or location of the tattoo, along with the type of ink used or individual’s skin. For a more accurate assessment, we recommend scheduling a Cosmetic Consultation with our lead laser nurse.
How long will it take me to recover from CO2 laser skin resurfacing?
A Cool Peel (which is a mini-CO2 treatment) will cause redness and mild swelling for 1-2 days. The estimated down time for more aggressive procedures is 4-7 days. As the skin continues to heal, patients may experience more pinkness than usual in the weeks following treatment.
Are Results from CO2 laser skin resurfacing permanent?
Improvements from laser skin resurfacing can be seen for many years. Longevity of results largely depends on past sun damage and initial skin health. Diligent use of SPF and prescription grade skin care can prolong results. Most patients receive this treatment every 1 to 2 years to maintain results.
