If you have sat in my chair in the past two months, you have probably heard me talking about platelet-derived substances.
We recently have added a topical serum version (Plated) you can take home, and an in-office version (PDGF) that works a little deeper and can subtly help with volume. The topical serum, Plated Exosomes, was created by two top physicians at Mayo Clinic specializing in regenerative treatments for medical conditions – and it is made in Rochester, MN today.
Why is it amazing? They developed technology that actually drives peptides and antioxidants like glutathione into the skin where it can work at a cellular level on correcting pretty much any skin concern, all without irritation, downtime, discomfort… and safe for everyone.
It has an aura, which means the powerful effects of it travel beyond where you apply it. They couldn’t do split face studies because of this, so they had to do split arm studies. It comes from human platelets, so it is very bioavailable, stable, and healing.
It is perfect to use after in-office treatments like CO2 or microneedling to cut down on downtime and boost collagen stimulation. It also won Time’s invention of the year last year, which skincare typically doesn’t win.
It is like a take-home laser treatment in a bottle! If you have any redness, pigment, fine lines/wrinkles, laxity, even acne – you can see improvement from Plated in as little as a week.
I’ve had patients call it:
The other platelet-derived goodness that we have brought on is called PDGF or platelet-derived growth factor. This can safely be injected into areas that we don’t love to use filler first, like hollow and dark undereyes, around the mouth/nasolabial folds, and marionettes.
It is just like the platelet-derived growth factor you would get from PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments, but lab-created and 30,000 times more concentrated than a PRP sample. It has been used for over 15 years in FDA-approved advanced wound healing and bone regrowth treatments.
We love it used as a part of our glide in skinpen microneedling, applied immediately after a CO2 or Virtue RF Microneedling or injected into skin that needs a boost in firmness/quality.
Both of these new offerings are where aesthetic medicine is heading – towards regenerative treatments that actually restore the tissue to healthy, firm, glowing skin.
They both work in conjunction with our new hair restoration device too. TED uses ultrasound technology and positive pressure to drive things into the scalp – we can use PDGF for the biggest boost – or their patented growth factor serum, all with no needles, and no pain!
Plated has a special serum just for hair loss/regrowth that helps to maintain results at home.
The future is in restoration! And we have it here at Medical Day Spa of Chapel Hill. We are passionate about doing only things that give true results, in the safest way, with a big impact.
